Mini vs. midi fuse beads: choose a compatible size.

Bead size affects the pegboard, physical footprint, and handling of a chart. The same digital grid can describe very different physical projects when bead size changes.

Treat size as a material requirement

Artkal distinguishes mini 2.6 mm and midi 5 mm beads in its official size guidance. PinDo’s current starter material list is specifically Perler 5 mm. A color name in one brand is not a verified match for the same-sounding name in another.

Use the board made for your bead size

Check both the bead package and pegboard specification. A grid that fits in 29 × 29 cells still needs pegs compatible with the selected bead. Digital chart dimensions describe cell counts, not a universal printed size in centimeters.

More detail does not always mean an easier project

Smaller beads can produce a smaller physical picture at the same grid dimensions. They may also require more precise handling. Start with a limited palette and a modest chart before choosing a highly detailed portrait or large multi-board image.

Keep conversions honest

PinDo previews screen colors using its current ten-color palette. It does not yet provide a verified Artkal or Hama conversion table. For another brand, make and record your own material substitutions and physical test. Do not interpret the original pack codes as compatible replacement products.
